| National Jewish Health NTM Family Study |
PARTICIPANTS NEEDEDDo you and a family member have current or past lung infection with MAC or another type of nontuberculous mycobacterium (NTM)? National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado is seeking individuals with lung infections caused by any species of NTM including those with MAC, Mycobacterium kansasii, Mycobacterium abscessus, and Mycobacterium fortuitum, where at least one other living blood relative also has or has had an NTM lung infection. The aim is to identify families where multiple individuals are affected with NTM lung infections with the goal of recruiting individuals to potentially participate in future research at National Jewish Health aimed at better understanding the genes involved in susceptibility to developing NTM lung infections. Qualified individuals should have at least 1 living blood relative currently or previously affected with an NTM lung infection, and be willing to discuss participation in research at National Jewish Health. Researchers are excluding patients with known immune diseases including those with HIV/AIDS, and researchers are excluding those with certain severe underlying lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis.
